Far from Cincinnati

If you've never heard of WKRP in Cincinnati, the title of this blog will make absolutely no sense to you. This is a quick explanation to get the ball rolling with this blog.

For those who don't want to click the wikipedia link above - WKRP in Cincinnati was a sitcom from the late 70's based in a fictional radio station. Herb was a pretty slick radio salesman. Well, he was in his own mind anyway. In truth, he bumbled through in loud polyester suits and more than boorish manners - never landing the big accounts and more importantly never helping his clients achieve advertising success in radio.

Despite the fact that I'm pretty sure I dress better, as soon as I got my job at XM105 the jokes started. I don't know if this happens in every radio account executive's house, but as soon as I took the position the jokes started. I was now Herb Tarluk.

When it came time for me to create this blog to go along with Easy Results with Radio - My name is not Herb immediately became a front runner for names. Herb being the antithesis of what a professional radio salesperson wants to be, it just made sense to me.

And now, without further ado....enjoy the rest of the blog!

I use to own a shirt that said "my names not herb" I never knew what it meant, as I searched it's meaning online you are the only site related. Does it mean something more than from the radioshow? I owned the shirt as a kid in the early eighties

Hypo - Thanks for visiting. This is kind of a dead blog now. I left radio a while ago to get back into marketing and promotions directly for small businesses.

In any case, I am not sure if that shirt was related to WKRP. I was only 8 in 1980. It could've been a reference to marijuana too. The timing does fit for WKRP since it was the early 80's and the show was on in the late 70's.
